Dies war mein Titel im Mai
Reading by Inga Charlotte Thiele
Inga Charlotte Thiele is a writer, curator and bookseller based in Vienna. She works with poetic language and its possibilities in the fields of writing, study and practice. In her practice, which also involves drawing, she deals with the materiality of language and text, its rigidity and resiliency, and observes the writing and reading body.
Dressing by candlelight
Screening by Julian Ernst.
In conjunction with the exhibition “Life on it’s own”, the screening event “ Dressing by candlelight”, will act as an intervention of the current exhibition.
The works shown have been removed from their original exhibition context the serial form of presentation brings the positions in conversation with each other. Together they will form a "film experience" investigating the term "cuteness" in connection with the topic of the exhibition fetishisim.
The word cute appears for the first time in the domestic sphere, in the semantic field of women and children, in the area of a "feminine spectacle". Freud has already written about it he separates between objects of "serious work" and things of "sense of art". Their function is above all to fill the living rooms with emotions.
This is where the screening continues, focussing primarily on the cuteness of objects and what importance is attributed to them in everyday life. In the moving image, we find this cuteness at home, especially in the widespread phenomenon of cat videos, these days.
